Dani: I really need a job. I'm skint and I've just gotta buy those trousers I saw in Glitz! And this application form is a real pain - I just can't get my head round it.

Balvinder: Well face it Dani, if you go in and meet them they might take you on just because you're black. I mean, there must be loads of bosses who take on someone black because they're scared of being reported for being racist!

Dani: I wish I knew where! I really need to find a Saturday job soon.

Balvinder: I think that's really stupid to try and get someone from, you know, a minority, into a job. That's just as bad as only giving it to a white person.

Dani: But if it's been unfair for so long, what's wrong with making things even?

Balvinder: Two wrongs don't make a right. I wouldn't like a job like that.

Megan: Can't see why, a job's a job isn't it?

Balvinder: No, I'd hate it. Other people would think you'd only got the job because of your colour, not how good you were. I want to get a job because people think I'd be good. I don't want to be their token Asian. How would you like it if you had a job and people thought you only got it because the boss liked your mini skirt?

Megan: Yeah - maybe it can make people's attitudes worse.
