Oh wow, what can I tell you about Poland? Well, it's about the same size as Germany, one of its neighbours, and it's also beside some countries in Eastern Europe that were kind of ruled by Russia until about 16 years ago. It has fewer people than Germany's 82 million though, between 38 and 39 million.
Poland is much poorer than some other European countries. The country's income each year is almost ten times lower than Germany's, for instance.
We joined the European Union in 2004 along with some other countries. The idea of us joining is that in a few years, with lots of new business and trade between all our countries, we will get richer and so will you.
Some people might think that it's hard for us to working long hours here at the lowest possible wages. Okay, it's hard work, but I don't know anyone who's not glad to be here. Our low wages here are worth a lot more back home. |
